The Gourmet Divino selection
Native grapes, territories with personality and wineries that work the way they did a generation ago.
22 wines in the selection
Red wine is the heart of Italy. Every region has its own grapes — Montepulciano in Abruzzo, Primitivo in Puglia, Sagrantino in Umbria, Nebbiolo in Piedmont — and each one tells you something different about where it comes from.
Our selection covers the whole range: young, fruity reds for every day, mid-weight wines with a year or two in wood, and great wines for the cellar that need time and a meal to match. All of them come from family wineries chosen for authenticity, not reputation.
Italian reds are usually served at 16–18 °C; young ones can take it slightly cooler. They pair with meat-sauce pasta, roasts, game and aged cheeses — and the more structured ones appreciate an hour of air.
